Met Gala 2012: See all red carpet photos from Renee Zellweger in Pucci to Beyonce in Givenchy dress (PHOTOS)

The 2012 Met Gala has been called everything from the fashion Oscars to the fashion Super Bowl. We have been looking forward to analysing the outfits of the gliterati so here we go, from Beyonce in show stopping Givenchy to Florence Welch in an Alexander McQueen poodle dress.

If you have been wondering where Renee Zellweger has been, she has been taking some time off but she is back with a vengeance in Emilio Pucci.

The chiffon and organza ruffled train showed off her amazing arms and back in the dress with sheer detail on the bodice which she accessorised with diamond drop earrings and a solitaire cocktail ring. I was shocked when I heard that she would not be wearing Carolina Herrera but I was not disappointed. Peter Dundas for Pucci did an excellent job in this elegant black silk dress.

Florence Welch represented British Fashion at the even in an awful Sarah Buton dress that just looked like a poodle. the embroidered tulle creation was teamed with some Heidi braids.

The dandelion embroidered organza tiered dress was worn with matching embellished sandals with an armadillo heel and a classic clutch bag from McQueen.

Gisele Bundchen always look amazing and last night was no different. The Givenchy Haute Couture was amazing with black strappy sandals.

Cameron Diaz was stunning in shimmering Stella McCartney on the red carpet. The custom made dress was made from organic silk and glass beads. I loved this look.

Jessica Biel walked the red carpet with her fiance Justin Timberlake in this ivory Prada dress. The mid-calf length dress was made of double stretch fabric which clung to her curves, had a plunging V-neck and jade green stone embellishments. She accesorised with a Prada clutch and blush pink pumps. I thought that the look was a little boring and she could barely see out of her fringe.

Rooney Mara was a girl in black again in this custom made Givency.

Beyonce also wore Givency. Riccardo Tisci said that Givenchy was made for Beyonce.

The new mother showed off her post-baby body in this revealing couture dress that left little to the imagination. The dress had a sheer bodysuit covered in black lace and crystals, it cascaded into a skirt of purple and black feathers.

She let the dress speak for itself in light make-up and a sleek ponytail.

Leighton Meester wore a dress that did not suit her somehow. the Marchesa gold applique and nude tulle dress was a little to much for the actress who play Blaire Waldorf in Gossip Girl. I also thought that the dark lipstick was too harsh for her.

Rihanna wore Tom Ford crocodile leather number. Elaborate rolls made up Rihanna’s hair and Christian Louboutin heels completed her look.

Nina Dobrev stunned in a Donna Karan dress (her favourite designer). The black and gold, backless dress draped beautifully and was accessorised by H Stern jewellery.

Diane Kruger was another stunner in a purple feathered Prada gown.

Newlywed Carey Mulligan showed off her wedding ring in this shimmery Prada paillette dress.

Gwyneth Paltrow looked slick and sexy in a back-exposing grey silk Prada dress.

Beyonce’s sister, Solange, was in a sunny yellow peplum gown by Rachel Roy – a fun choice.

Lea Michelle wore a blue Diane von Furstenberg sequined dress with a fringed necklace, thigh-high split and a revealing neckline. She carried a clutch bag from Diane von Furstenberg, Christian Louboutin shoes and Lorraine Schwartz earrings.

Sarah Jessica Parker wore pink, like many others. She chose Valentino, a long-sleeved silk print dress from the Spring 2012 collection with a vintage feel that she paired with Fred Leighton Victorian gold, pearl and enamel cuffs.

She wore her hair in voluminous waves and added some large earrings.

Emma Stone wore a cute dress from Lanvin (a little too cute for her?). The bright red satin dress was hand embroidered with crystal flowers.

Kate Bosworth wore a short dress, she was one of the few. The navy ostrich feather mini-dress had a daring low-cut back. She added strappy two-tone sandals by Prada, a severe topknot finished off her look.

January Jones wore an Arelier Versace Spring 2012 dress. The yellow dress had a structured metallic details and a peplum waist. Gold Versace heels completed her look.

Amy Adams wore an asymmetric, silk, chiffon gown with black velvet inset and a silver and gold bow belt by Luigi Scialanga for Giambattista Valli.

Jessica Alba wore a shiny gold lame Michale Kors gown. It was very 1970s and I did not like it at all – if Jessica cannot carry this off then who can?

Lana Del Ray wore a strapless black and silver dress on the arm of Joseph Altuzarra. She looked like a witch.

Kirsten Dunst was hardly surprising in a custom Rodarte look and a retro wavy hairdo.

Amber Heard wore Zac Posen on the red carpet. She wore a strapless orchid dress from the 2012 collection which she wore with a wavy updo and red lipstick.

Dakota Fanning wore a 90s style bridesmaid dress from Louis Vuitton in lavender. The tulle and organza dress was embroidered with floral ribbons and she teamed it with satin sandals. It was not in the slightest big flattering.

Coco Rocha wore a yellow Givenchy embellished jumpsuit with pink bustier.

Elizabeth Banks wore a strange Mary Katrantzou gown with digital print, oversized peplum and split which she teamed with a red clutch bag and Christian Louboutins.

Camilla Belle wore a Ralph Lauren Spring 2012 ivory tulle beaded dress which she teamed with vintage art deco jewels and a side bun. She added champagne python sandals with a bamboo heel.

Anna Wintour did not wear Chanel this year, she opted for a Prada custom-made gown with a gold lobster motif, Manolo Blahnik shoes and a fur cape.

Karolina Kurkova wore a Rachel Zoe creation. The rose coloured gold sequinned dress had an open back and she teamed it with an turban and gold clutch.

Christina Ricci wore what looked like two dresses stuck together from Thakoon – I am not a fan.

Swimsuit Illustrated model Kate Upton wore this shimmery Michael Kors gown and kept her accessories simple. This Grecian gown made her chest look a little shapeless?
