X Factor Fashion disaster: Cheryl Cole flies back to LA in furry waistcoat with Kimberley Walsh in unflattering jumpsuit (PHOTOS)

Everyone makes fashion mistakes sometimes.

I will admit that aged 14 I had the most hideously awful pair of patchwork dungarees (which explains why I had no boyfriend perhaps…).

However, you would  imagine that spending that when you spend as much time in the public eye working on your appearance and with stylists at least some of it should rub off on you. Girls Aloud singers, Cheryl Cole and Kimberley Walsh are proof that that is not always the case.

Cheryl flew back to Los Angeles today with her friend and bandmate Kimberley in tow.

It was just a few weeks ago that Cheryl was sacked as a judge on the American version of the X Factor and she has been keeping a low profile ever since.

Cheryl was dumped by producers just 2 weeks into the auditions to be replaced by Nicole Scherzinger. There has been a lot of speculation about the reasons for the show’s decision ranging from the American public not being able to understand Cheryl’s accent to her lack of style (if that was the reason for the sacking these photos show it was the right choice!).

The first we saw of Cheryl was her appearance at the American Embassy last week showing off her new blonde bobbed hair in advance of her 28th birthday party. Since then there has been speculation that she has gotten back together with her ex-husband Ashley Cole. The two split up after revelations that Ashley cannot keep it in pants.

The press is reporting this week that Cheryl has agreed to get back with Ashley subject to his meeting a number of demands. Apparently Cheryl wants a new family home, an LA pad (which she could be hunting for now), and she wants him to ditch his friends. Worryingly, it is also reported that Cheryl wants her ex-husband to call  her twice a day on his mobile so she can keep track of him. That is the problem with taking someone back after an affair. Yes you might love them and be miserable without them but you can bet that the rest of the time you are together will be spent worrying that he is cheating.

After all of the media attention the 28-year-old has decided that she needs a little moral support on her LA trip and is spotted here holding on tightly to Kimberley’s hand at LAX airport last night.

The two may have jet lag but they look like they have dressed blindfolded. Cheryl is in a Mongolian lamb wasitcoat with ill fitting jeans, black sandals and a blue t-shirt. We did love her tortoiseshell sunglasses – but it was dark!

Kimberley wore a multi-coloured jumpsuit, white belt and cream leather jacket. It was really unflattering on the 29-year-old who has worked so hard recently to slim down!
