Natalie Cassidy shows off slim new body in Closer Magazine!
Natalie Cassidy shocked everyone when she dropped from a size 16 to a 6 after leaving her role as Sonia Jackson in Eastenders.
She predictably released her own DVD Natalie Cassidy’s Then and Now Workout but piled the weight on again leading to speculation that she had lost weight too quickly.
Natalie later admitted that she did not loose the weight in a healthy way and resorted to laxatives to maintain her size.
In September last year Natalie gave birth to baby Eliza and by February she was ready to get back in shape and she has done it!
Natalie appears in this week’s Closer magazine showing off her new body in a sheer sequined bodysuit to show off her new body. The 28-year-old actress has lost 2st since February, going from a 14 to a 10 but like most women she is still not happy with her body:
“I’d love to have a flat tum like lots of new celeb mums but I’m happy maintaining the weight I’m at now,” she says. “I don’t think I’ll hit size 8 again, unless it’s just for my wedding day!”
“I’m now at my goal weight of 9st 12lbs, but I’d still like to be half a stone lighter. I weigh myself once a week, but I could easily stand on the scales twice a day. I have to stop myself getting obsessed!”
“Naturally I’m about a size 14,” she says. “It’s a real effort to be a 10, but I’d be really disappointed if I put the weight back – I don’t want to be a yo-yo dieter any more. I’d love to be between a 10 and 12 for the rest of my life.”
“My attitude to my body is totally different these days. It’s far more important for me to be fit than thin.”
Natalie works out in various ways.
“I’ve been going to Zumba Fitness, which is brilliant. I go to a class near me twice a week and it’s so much fun. It gives me a break from Eliza and Adam. A bit of “me” time. I work really hard and sweat from head to toe.”
Cassidy tries to fit in her exercise around being a mum by taking the baby with her:
“Most of it’s been done at the park or in the house with the baby. I’ve done five-mile walks with some other mums and we take the babies in their buggies. I’ve been seeing my trainer most Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 6am until 7am.”
She reveals that her love life has also improved along with her self-confidence
“I feel far sexier than when I was really thin,” she smiles. “We’re having more sex than ever since we got back from our holiday to Cyprus [earlier this month]. But we’re not at it like rabbits. I’ve no time for dressing up in sexy maid outfits!”
Natalie told New! magazine last month that she does not diet but she watches what she eats and makes smart choices without denying herself food that she likes.
So what is Natalie’s workout regime? Her trainer Tara Gadre from Futureproof Fitness says:
“My training sessions with Natalie were varied, incorporating simple exercises that can be performed in your living room (lunges, squats, press-ups) and more advanced workouts using basic equipment (dumb-bells, stability ball, resistance tubing and TRX Suspension Training). Redeveloping Natalie’s core strength was a particular focus, using Pilates-based exercises. Natalie’s shown it’s possible to enjoy being a new mum and find the time to get back in shape. With the right planning, some ‘me time’ for exercise is possible.”

“Natalie achieved safe, natural weight loss by increasing her physical activity and tweaking her diet. She aimed for a 1,200 calories-a-day intake, which took into account the calorie expenditure from the physical activity she was doing. Natalie’s diet consisted of natural, fresh, home-cooked food and regular healthy meals. She opted for complex carbohydrates, such as wholemeal pitta bread and brown rice instead of white and lean protein.”
If Natalie can keep working with a personal trainer that’s great but the problems will start if she hasn’t made fitness and healthy eating a part of her everyday life. You need to be self motivated to keep fit and healthy and that is the struggle day in, day out. I hope she does it!
